Who needs to take Texas Driver Education?

If you are age 15-17 and want your Texas learners permit and license, you must complete 32 hours of formal driver education. Virtual Drive of Texas’ online Parent-Taught Drivers Ed course fulfills that requirement.

Learner’s Permit

  • If you are 15 years old, you can apply for your learner’s permit immediately after you have:
  • Received your packet from the state of Texas,
  • Successfully completed Virtual Drive of Texas (Module 1),
  • Passed the required DPS test (Online through Virtual Drive)

Texas Driver’s License

  • If you are 16 years of age you can apply for your driver license immediately after you have:
  • Successfully completed Virtual Drive Driver Education
  • held a valid Learner’s Permit for a minimum of six months.
  • Pass the Driver’s Test
  • Paid your fee to the state

 

How Does Virtual Drive of Texas’s Drivers Ed course work?

Our Parent-Taught teen drivers ed program is a state-mandated 32 hour program comprising of state of the art information and learning techniques. After you complete a module, you’ll be given a short multiple-choice quiz. At the end of the course, you will be given a 90-question final exam. You will successfully complete the course by passing with an 70% or greater.

 

When Can You Get Your Learner’s Permit?

If you are 15 years old, you can apply for your learner’s permit immediately after you have received your packet from the state of Texas, have taken Virtual

 

What is Virtual Drive’s return policy and what if I need a refund?

Refunds to online courses that have not been started and have been purchased with 30 days will result in a $10 return fee. Any purchase after 30 days is not eligible for a refund.

 

How parent or guardians qualify to be an instructor for their teens?

1 .Should be a parent or legal guardian of the teen.2. Held a valid Texas drivers license for the past 3 years without any suspensions or revocations.3. Have 6 or fewer points on your driving record.4. Have never committed a felony driving violation, such as DWI or negligent homicide.

If you have just moved to the state of Texas, you must provide a copy of your driving record from your previous state of residence to confirm your eligibility.

 

Can I use the Parent Taught Course for both of my children?

Each child must register individually to receive credit for the course. The first child in each household must purchase the program at full price, each additional child will pay $99 to be added to the online course. The student will receive the Driver Ed Plus Package. In order to qualify for this special price, the students must reside in the same household.

 

Why doesn’t the paperwork from my packet match the Course 107 paperwork?

Virtual Drive is granted approval by the state to provide paperwork more appropriate to the course 107 structure. The paperwork can be found in the students section of the course in the REQUIRED FORMS link, just before the first module.

 

How long does it take for me to receive my state approved certificate for online adult driver’s education?

Once the final test has been completed with a passing grade and the certificate has been requested, the student can expect 8-10 business days for delivery. If you wish to have you certificate sent overnight, then simply contact our office to make the proper shipping change.

 

If you don’t pass the Texas online drivers ed final exam?

No problem, just relax and we will allow you another attempt. You’re allowed to take the final as many times as you need to pass.

Are your courses Texas State Approved?

Parent Taught Drivers Ed: Virtual Drive of Texas (Course #107) is the only state approved course designed specifically for the State of Texas and is all you need to get your license at 16 years old and receive a discount on your insurance.

Texas Adult Driver Education: is fully approved by the Texas Education Agency (Course #C2636). The course is mandatory for new drivers age 18-24 and can also be completed by drivers aged 25 and over to meet the DPS examination requirements.

 

What does the time on each lesson link mean?

The time specified is the required amount of time the student must spend on each lesson. Once the time has been complete, the lesson will continue.
